The Wikipedia(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karma) describes it as

Karma  means action, work or deed; it also refers to the spiritual principle of cause and effect where intent and actions of an individual (cause) influence the future of that individual (effect).Good intent and good deed contribute to good karma and future happiness, while bad intent and bad deed contribute to bad karma and future suffering.

With origins in ancient India, karma is a key concept in Hinduism, Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, and Taoism.

My view – The bundles of theories that supports “Karma” is an attempted insurance against the unknown…It’s a psychological crutch…It’s a psychological insurance against the unknown….to be precise…

Let me expand my view….

It’s a semblance of a defense mechanism against Man’s insecurity… Man deep within…is aware of the undercurrents of his insecurity…he is powerless…he does not actually know the ways of the mysterious…the ways of the unknown…he frankly and authentically does not know why certain events unfold and why certain don’t…..

To simply acknowledge this undercurrent of insecurity…this sheer helplessness…. requires tremendous sincerity…raw guts….it’s akin to standing naked…in the market place….and acknowledging with all humility…the infinite is much much vast than I ever anticipated….

Other than simply accepting the way the mysterious unfolds….there is no way I can attempt through logic….individual or collective(religion)….to decipher the indecipherable…

But by taking refuge behind Karma…he covers himself in a bubble….akin to an illusion….that he now knows…that now there is a reason…that now he is empowered against the unknown…Anything untoward…Anything outside his zone of comfort…can be pinned on Karma….the logical mind has now transferred the onus onto “Karma”…..

The logical yet scared and insecure mind has transferred the onus onto something totally abstract…i.e “Karma”…..

Anything untoward….the “Karma” of not only this life….but the “Karma” of previous lives can also be invoked…

The logical and insecure mind….fails to realize the sheer “illogicality” of its thinking.. Karma has ended up becoming a tool of convenience… a sheath to hide man’s insecurity…his unease… and yet appear “scholarly” in the religious market place…..

However let me not get too much in a rant against “Karma”… I do not want to incur the Karmic wrath onto this life or future lives 😉
